President FORE is setting records for most rounds of golf and incompetence.
President Barack Obama has played a remarkable 41 rounds of golf since becoming president, easily outpacing his predecessor and possibly damaging his ability to portray himself in 2012 as a populist advocate of average folks.
With the excursions lasting on average at least five hours, the president has devoted a total of more than 200 hours to golf, not counting time spent on the White House putting green. That’s the equivalent of twenty five eight-hour work days, or five work weeks spent smacking golf balls.
President FORE has played twice as much golf in 17 months than Bush did in his entire 8 years as President.
The former community organizer’s 41 trips around the links – a standard of recreational activity well beyond the budgets of most Americans – compares to only 24 total outings for former President George W. Bush, according to statistics compiled by White House chronicler Mark Knoller of CBS News. Bush, whose golf outings were used to help deride him as a callow, lazy, rich boy, played his 24th and last round on Oct. 13, 2003, saying he was ending the practice out of respect for the families of Americans killed in Iraq.
It’s great to be President. You earn $400,000 and get to play golf for 5 weeks. Nothing can stop Obama from playing golf. The economy hasn’t stopped him. Unemployment hasn’t stopped him. The BP oil disaster didn’t stop him. President FORE is more worried about what golf club to swing than what’s going on with the people who pay his salary.
OK, here’s my rant. It is time we put a stop to these politicians working 3 to 4 days a week while collecting, on average, $174,000 a year. This is on top of the excellent benefits packages they receive. We are their employers and we are paying their salaries.
If the average American taxpayer works the minimum of 40 hours a week (if they are lucky to have a full-time job in Obama’s economy), the same standard needs to be set for these politicians.
Politicians are no better, and deserve no more, than the taxpayers get. Cut their salaries and let them be the same as the national median income and then see how many want to be career politicians. Give them 2 weeks vacation and enforce term limits. Then, and only then, will we see true patriots who are only in Washington to make America a better place and not their to only fill their pockets with our tax dollars.
