I guess Maher doesn’t know that it is those on the left who have a favorable favorable view of socialism. Look at what the left has done since Obama was elected.
This is how the left-wing spins history. The left-wing supported slavery, segregation, secession and gave us the KKK, Jim Crow laws and lynching. Yet some how they have taken their history of racism and painted it on the right.
This calling some people right and left is pretty silly. Stalin was an evil man, the pain and death of others meant nothing to him, the truth meant nothing. Was he right or left? That’s in your head. He was an evil man who could care less about truth or compassion.
Were the slave owners right or left? Well, they were religious and political conservatives.
Southern religious conservatives gave us slavery, slave torture, the sellingof children, secession, Jim crow laws, lynching —- all in the name of God.
It was the ultra conservative, ultra religous lunatics not only owned, tortured, sold, and got rich on slaves — these same ultra conservatives stopped free speech, even religious free speech, in the South from 1820s on.
Men like Lee and Davis insisted God ordained slavery, and that the bible condoned the torture of slave girls (and men) even to death.
Davis said slavery was a GIFT from God. Lee said pain was God’s intention and plan for slaves “necessary for their instruction”. Lee said abolitionist were trying to “destroy the American Church”.
Southern preachers accused abolitionist of being “atheist” — and said that Jesus Christ, son of God, message to mankind was to enslave the blacks and make them do our work. Our main task for God “is to conserve and perpetuate slavery”
These extreme conservative religious lunatics have direct linage to the Southern fundmentalist religous churchs and families to this day, only the excuse about God ordaining slavery, they have quietly put under the rug.
Correct and those Southern Conservatives were members of the Democratic Party. The Democratic platform was pro-slavery. Northern Democrats supported the slave trade just as much as the Southern Democrats. As I stated, the Democrats gave us slavery, segregation, secession, the KKK, lynching of blacks, lynching of white Republicans who fought to end slavery, poll taxes and Jim Crow laws. Democrats also voted against every single piece of Civil Rights in history. Voting records show the Democrats voted against the 14th, 15th and 19th amendments. As well as the fact that more Democrats, by a 3 to 1 margin, voted against the 1965 Civil Rights Act. Two Democrats, Al Gore Sr (D-TN) and Robert Byrd (D-WV) filibustered the vote. I do recall Byrd, a Democrat, being a member of the KKK.
Yes, the South is so racist. This must be the reason African-Americans are returning to the South in huge numbers, according to the U.S. Census. Also, according to the FBI hate-crime states, most hate-crimes happen in liberal dominated cities up north and along the west coast.
Scotty, you can trace the Southern slave owners directly to the GOP of today, if you care too.
There is a direct linage to Al Gore Sr, that is true. And Robert Byrd. But Byrd admitted he was wrong –I don’t know if Al Gore Sr did.
But the overwhelming direct linkages go from men like Davis, Toombs, Yancy, politically, to the modern day GOP.

Who said the South is “so racist” — I just told you what the Southern leaders did — torture, enslave, tell each other and the world God told them to enslave. Issue Ultimatums to spread slavery, stop free speech for over 40 years, stop religious freedom for over 40 years, stop real elections for over 40 years.
That’s what happened. Conservative religious lunatics did that. Every Southern leader was a religious zealot who insisted God ordained slavery — Lee even claimed God ordained the torture of slaves, when he said pain “was necessary for their instruction”
Were these just evil men? No. They were born into that system, they were told by their parents, by their church, and by women who adored them, that slavery was from God. Why wouldn”t they believe it?
It makes sense to those who believe in revisionist history. It was, and has been, the Democratic party with the issues of slavery and oppression, not the GOP. History tells us that it was those on the left who put forth ideologies and policies to keep others down and deny them their civil rights. Spin it however you want, you can’t deny that the Democratic Party voted against every single piece of Civil Rights legislation in history. The same who segregated the schools and the military.
You can change the label to Southern politicians but we all know it was Southern Democrats who continued the Jim Crow laws and segregation. Those on the left have attempted to claim it was the GOP, but again, history gives us the truth.
As I stated before, the majority of hate crimes happen up North and out West, according to FBI hate crime stats. California, a very liberal state, has the most.
As I stated very clearly, revisionist history only works on those who know no better.
