Since Obama loves to be on TV so much, why is he refusing to speak to America about his Libyan War?

Obama loves to talk. Obama loves to be on television. So why is Obama refusing to address the nation and tell us his goals of the Libyan War? Why is Obama afraid to address Congress and the taxpayers?

Politco reports:

President Barack Obama is resisting pressure to deliver an Oval Office speech explaining his policy on Libya — in part, because he doesn’t want to equate what he regards as a smaller, time-limited mission with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sure, why should the President explain his actions? Members of both parties want to know why Obama went around them to use our military against a country that isn’t an imminent threat to the US.

Administration officials haven’t ruled out a big speech, but Obama is reluctant to make a major address on Libya until the United States hands over most command and combat duties to its allies.

Explains why only 17% believe Obama is a strong military leader.

That’s not to say the president won’t talk about Libya over the next few days, aides say, but he’s not likely to succumb to pressure to deliver a long, explanatory address to outline his elusive endgame to the nation until the path ahead becomes clearer.

There were signs that might come sooner rather than later on Thursday. For the first time since combat operations began, the vast majority of flights over Libya on Thursday were conducted by U.S. allies, a sharp contrast to the previous 24 hours when American planes flew the majority of missions.

Muslim Underwear Bomber picked Detroit due to ticket prices

This damn economy is affecting everyone. The Christmas Day terrorist who tried to blow up a passenger plane, with his underwear bomb, picked Detroit instead of Houston and Chicago due to ticket cost.

WASHINGTON — When an admitted al-Qaida operative planned his itinerary for a Christmas 2009 airline bombing, he considered launching the strike in the skies above Houston or Chicago, The Associated Press has learned. But tickets were too expensive, so he refocused the mission on a cheaper destination: Detroit.

The decision is among new details emerging about one of the most sensational terrorism plots to unfold since President Barack Obama took office. It shows that al-Qaida’s Yemen branch does not share Osama bin Laden’s desire to attack symbolic targets, preferring instead to strike at targets of opportunity. Like the plot that nearly blew up U.S.-bound cargo planes last year, the cities themselves didn’t matter. It’s a strategy that has helped the relatively new group quickly become the No. 1 threat to the United States.

After the failed bombing and the arrest of suspected bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the question of why Detroit was targeted had gone unanswered. It was previously reported that Abdulmutallab did not specifically choose Christmas for his mission.

Now why would a Muslim terrorist pick Christmas Day to blow up American citizens? Yes, there is definately no connection at all (sarcasm).

Abdulmutallab considered Houston, where he attended an Islamic conference in 2008, current and former counterterrorism officials told the AP. Another person with knowledge of the case said Abdulmutallab also considered Chicago but was discouraged by the cost. All spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

Tax Man Commeth…CBO recommends taxing mileage to keep up with Obama’s historic spending

What ever happened to the myth that the government can’t double tax you? The CBO is now calling for the federal government to start taxing the number of miles taxpayers drive each year. What about the gas taxes we pay to maintain our roads, bridges and highways?

Un-fucking-believable.

When will the CBO recommend that Obama stop spending?

The Hill reports:

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) this week released a report that said taxing people based on how many miles they drive is a possible option for raising new revenues and that these taxes could be used to offset the costs of highway maintenance at a time when federal funds are short.

The report discussed the proposal in great detail, including the development of technology that would allow total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) to be tracked, reported and taxed, as well as the pros and cons of mandating the installation of this technology in all vehicles.

Spend tax money to figure out how to confiscate more taxes from the taxpayers. Great idea.

“In the past, the efficiency costs of implementing a system of VMT charges — particularly the costs of users’ time for slowing and queuing at tollbooths — would clearly have outweighed the potential benefits from more efficient use of highway capacity,” CBO wrote. “Now, electronic metering and billing are making per-mile charges a practical option.”

The report was requested by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), who held a hearing on transportation funding in early March. In that hearing, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said the Obama administration is hoping to spend $556 billion over the next six years, much of which would go to federal transportation improvement projects.

Yes, the taxpayers have to pay five union members to stand around and watch one work. Got to keep those union goons happy.

What Abortion Provider is linked to the breakdown of Black families? Planned Parenthood

I wonder why Democrats support this abortion provider who tends to located the majority of their abortion family planning centers in black communities? Some people who have given their vote to the Democratic Party need to look back at the party’s history. As a matter of fact, they should research Margaret Sanger and how she felt about the black community.

(CNSNews.com) – Planned Parenthood’s birth-control campaign in low-income, black neighborhoods is partly to blame for the breakdown of the black family as well as today’s epidemic of out-of-wedlock births, single parent households, sexually transmitted diseases, absent fathers, and high abortion rates, according to panelists who spoke last week at the Frederick Douglass Foundation’s annual conference in Washington, D.C.

Patrick Fagan, director of the Marriage and Religion Research Institute at the Family Research Council, a conservative group, said people do not like to talk about it but the decline of the intact black family dates back to the 1930s when the pro-abortion, family planning agenda was being pushed by groups such as the American Birth Control League, which was renamed the Planned Parenthood Federation of America in the early 1940s.

“The first family targeted by Planned Parenthood in the late 30s, early 40s was the black family,” said Fagan.

…“[Y]ou had this mass commodification of sex outside of marriage, mainly through contraception,” he said. “Who pushed the whole thing? Planned Parenthood. They first got to the black family. Why? Because they wanted to reduce black kids. They didn’t want black kids.”

According to the Guttmacher Institute’s report, Characteristics of U.S. Abortion Patients, 2008, non-Hispanic black women accounted for 30 percent of abortions. The Census Bureau states that blacks made up 12.9 percent of the U.S. population in 2009.

In an e-mail to CNSNews.com, Fagan said, “Margaret Sanger spearheaded the effort of population control of blacks through the Black church, exemplified in her Harlem Clinic,
which started in the 1930′s.  Adam Clayton Powell Sr.  had her address the Abyssian Baptist Church, Harlem’s largest Black church.”

Sanger was the founder of the American Birth Control League, which became Planned Parenthood.

“By the late 1960′s, after ‘family planning’ clinics were widespread, there was a clear pattern of a preponderance of them being in black neighborhoods,” said Fagan.

Obama pledges to give $200 Million to Central America to fight drug war while ignoring US Border Security

Priorities Mr. President. We are broke as a nation as you hand over $200 million of our taxpayer dollars to help Central American countries combat the drug trade. Obama continues to turn a blind-eye towards the U.S.-Mexico border, where a real drug war is taking place.

Im sure our own U.S. Border Patrol could use that $200 million dollars to boost border security.

According to Reuters, the Mexican drug cartels every day have a greater presence in Central America, which puts them at risk for these countries to become not only a transit for drug trafficking but also to make its citizens drug users.

Poll: Only 17% see Obama as strong and decisive military leader

 

Now why would the majority of Americans see the backpeddler-in-chief as a weak military leader?

MSNBC reports (shockingly):

WASHINGTON — Only 17 percent of Americans see President Barack Obama as a strong and decisive military leader, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll taken after the United States and its allies began bombing Libya.

Nearly half of those polled view Obama as a cautious and consultative commander-in-chief and more than a third see him as indecisive in military matters.

Maybe vacationing in Latin America as you send our military to bomb Libya has something to do with the perception? Maybe not wanting the US to be the leader in this ‘kinetic action’ has something to do with the majority of Americans seeing Obama as a wimp (or watching him throw a baseball).

Obama was widely criticized in 2009 for his months-long consultations with senior aides and military chiefs on whether to send more troops to Afghanistan. Critics called it dithering, but he said such a big decision required careful deliberation. He eventually dispatched 30,000 more troops.

And the fact that he had only talked to Gen. McChrystal once in his first 8 months in office has a lot to do with the perception.

But Obama is facing mounting discontent among opposition Republicans and from within his own Democratic Party over the fuzzy aims of the U.S.-led mission in Libya and the lack of a clearly spelled-out exit strategy for U.S. forces.

I guess that letter he wrote to inform the entire Congress that he had authorized military actions against Libya, without Congressional Authority, pissed off both parties.

If the Libya mission becomes a foreign policy mess, mixed with perceptions Obama is a weak military leader, it could spell trouble for him in the 2012 presidential election.

It’s already a mess. Obama went around Congress and listened to the U.N. He used military action without congressional approval and he has flip-flopped on what the goals are in Libya. On Monday, Obama wanted Gadhafi gone. On Tuesday, Obama said he could stay if things changed.

America doesn’t need a dithering, feckless leader running our military.

Good News America….We are not at War…we are involved in a “kinetic military action”

You can change the terminology all you want but if you are dropping bombs on a opponent and the opponent is firing back…you’re at war.

This administration is infamous for changing terminology. This is the same administration who stopped using the phrase ”war on terror” and changed it to ‘overseas contingency operations.’  They also stopped using the term ”Islamic terrorist/terrorism” and started calling this “man-caused disasters“ to appease the Muslim community. How has that worked?

So now to hide the truth, the Obama regime is refusing to call a war a war. Instead they are trying to label it a “kinetic military action.” Give me a fucking break. All this political correctness to appease Muslims, who by the way hate the U.S., is dangerous. Call it what it is…a war.

In the last few days, Obama administration officials have frequently faced the question: Is the fighting in Libya a war?  From military officers to White House spokesmen up to the president himself, the answer is no.  But that leaves the question: What is it?

In a briefing on board Air Force One Wednesday, deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes took a crack at an answer.  “I think what we are doing is enforcing a resolution that has a very clear set of goals, which is protecting the Libyan people, averting a humanitarian crisis, and setting up a no-fly zone,” Rhodes said.  “Obviously that involves kinetic military action, particularly on the front end.”

Rhodes’ words echoed a description by national security adviser Tom Donilon in a briefing with reporters two weeks ago as the administration contemplated action in Libya.  “Military steps — and they can be kinetic and non-kinetic, obviously the full range — are not the only method by which we and the international community are pressuring Gadhafi,” Donilon said.

Rhodes and Donilon are by no means alone.  “Kinetic” is heard in a lot of descriptions of what’s going on in Libya. “As we are successful in suppressing the [Libyan] air defenses, the level of kinetic activity should decline,” Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in a meeting with reporters in Moscow Tuesday.  In a briefing with reporters the same day from on board the USS Mount Whitney, Admiral Samuel Locklear, commander of Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn, said, “The coalition brings together a wide array of capabilities that allow us to minimize the collateral damage when we have to take kinetic operations.”  On Monday, General Carter Ham, head of U.S. Africa Command, said of the coalition forces, “We possess certainly a very significant kinetic capability.”  And unnamed sources use it too, the president envisions it as lasting days, not weeks,” an unnamed senior official told CNN Saturday.

Representative introduces bill to grant ALL AMERICANS an ObamaCare Waivers….says you shouldn’t have to be politically connected to keep your health insurance

Awesome! I’ve screamed this since the first ObamaCare waivers were issued. If corporations and unions are allowed to duck the ObamaCare law, why shouldn’t Americans be allowed to do the same? After all, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) admitted that most of those who received the waivers were “friends” of Democrats.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) writes, via Townhall.com:

During the debate over his health care law, President Obama repeatedly promised that “if you like your plan, you can keep it,” but for millions of Americans that promise has already been broken.

In a shocking admission, Obama’s administration has granted more than 1,000 waivers to the health law to prevent 2.6 million workers from losing their coverage. Millions more weren’t lucky enough to get a waiver, and have already been forced to switch plans.

Most waivers have been distributed to Fortune 500 corporations like Pepsi and McDonald’s, unions, Las Vegas casinos and in one case an entire state.

If corporations and unions can get a waiver from the health law, every American should get one. That is why I have introduced a bill that would allow anyone – an individual, a family, a small business – to receive a waiver. You should not need to be politically connected to keep your health insurance.

My bill uses the same standard created by the Obama Administration. If the law increases your insurance premiums, you can apply for a waiver. If you’re forced to drop the coverage you like, you can apply for a waiver. The bill also requires the Obama Administration to educate the public about the option and regularly report how many families and employers have received waivers.

Got to love when someone uses the same standards, set by the Obama regime, to make a point.

No CodePink, Cindy Sheehan or mass demonstrations. No Hollywood stars making speeches against our war-mongering President. No “Blood for Oil” signs.
