One has authorized killing Americans with drones and the other didn’t

He’s right. Cheney didn’t have a secret kill list and Cheney never authorized the killing of American citizens via drone. The Nobel Peace Prize-winning President did these things.

From Politico:

President Barack Obama’s defense to Democratic senators complaining about how little his administration has told Congress about the legal justifications for his drone policy: Dick Cheney was worse.

Cheney never ordered the targeted killings via drones of US citizens without due process. Obama did that!

That’s part of what two senators in the room recounted of Obama’s response when, near the outset of his closed-door session with the Senate Democratic conference on Tuesday, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) confronted the president over the administration’s refusal for two years to show congressional intelligence committees Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel memos justifying the use of lethal force against American terror suspects abroad.

That is what “transparency” is under the Obama regime.

Obama recently allowed members of those panels to see the memos, but only after senators in both parties threatened to hold up the confirmation of John Brennan as Central Intelligence Agency director. Brennan was confirmed last week, but lawmakers not on one of the intelligence panels are still being denied access to the memos and several are steamed over being frozen out.

In response to Rockefeller’s critique, Obama said he’s not involved in drafting such memos, the senators told POLITICO. He also tried to assure his former colleagues that his administration is more open to oversight than that of President George W. Bush, whom many Democratic senators attacked for secrecy and for expanding executive power in the national security realm.

I have a few low-information Obama voters who troll my blog and probably don’t know a damn thing about Obama’s kill-list or that Obama has given the go-ahead on killing 3 US citizens without due process. They probably don’t know that the Obama regime, and Attorney General Eric Holder, believes  that targeted killing, via drones, of US citizens is Constitutional. Liberal hypocrisy knows no bounds.

The 5th & 14th Amendments would disagree with this corrupt administration.

From The Hill:

The White House on Tuesday defended the guidelines for targeting Americans in drone strikes as “fully consistent” with the Constitution.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, White House spokesman Jay Carney said it is President Obama’s responsibility to protect U.S. citizens “first and foremost.”

But Carney said strikes against Americans overseas are sometimes “necessary to mitigate ongoing attacks.” The operations are “fully consistent with our Constitution,” he said.

“[The strikes] are legal, they are ethical and they are wise.”

Some of these idiots actually believed you would uphold the US Constitution

Some of these idiots actually believed you would uphold the US Constitution

Hey left-wingers. This is what you worship.

This is the guy who tricked you idiots with his “coolness” and catchy campaign slogans and promises. You are just as much a part of the problem than Obama is. These radicals believe it is legal, and Constitutional, to kill US citizens based on assumptions instead of evidence. They believe the due process clause in the Constitution doesn’t apply and they can drop bombs on us if they feel scared or assume you’re up to no good. They believe they are the judge, jury and executioner.

This is the president who signed the National Defense Authorization Act that allow indefinite detention of US citizens without a trail or legal representation. This is the president with a “kill-list” that contains American citizens on it. This is the president who believes in killing via drones but condemns “torture.” This is the same president who attacks those who disagree with his radical presidency.

You low-information idiots brought this upon the American citizenry while cheering for America’s first dictator.

From NBCNews:

A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” — even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.

The 16-page memo, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration’s most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the  September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes.

The secrecy surrounding such strikes is fast emerging as a central issue in this week’s hearing of White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan, a key architect of the drone campaign, to be CIA director.  Brennan was the first administration official to publicly acknowledge drone strikes in a speech last year, calling them “consistent with the inherent right of self-defense.” In a separate talk at the Northwestern University Law School in March, Attorney General Eric Holder specifically endorsed the constitutionality of targeted killings of Americans, saying they could be justified if government officials determine the target poses  “an imminent threat of violent attack.”

But the confidential Justice Department “white paper” introduces a more expansive definition of self-defense or imminent attack than described  by Brennan or Holder in their public speeches.  It refers, for example, to what it calls a “broader concept of imminence” than actual intelligence about any ongoing plot against the U.S. homeland.

“The condition that an operational  leader present an ‘imminent’ threat of violent attack against the United States does not require the United States to have clear evidence that a specific attack on U.S. persons and interests will take place in the immediate future,” the memo states.

“The condition that an operational  leader present an ‘imminent’ threat of violent attack against the United States does not require the United States to have clear evidence that a specific attack on U.S. persons and interests will take place in the immediate future,” the memo states.

[...]The white paper also includes a more extensive discussion of why targeted strikes against Americans does not violate constitutional protections afforded American citizens as well as   a U.S. law that criminalizes the killing of U.S. nationals overseas.

It  also discusses why such targeted killings would not be a war crime or violate a U.S. executive order banning assassinations.

“A lawful killing in self-defense is not an assassination,” the white paper reads. “In the Department’s view, a lethal operation conducted against a U.S. citizen whose conduct poses an imminent threat of violent attack against the United States would be a legitimate act of national self-defense that would not violate the assassination ban. Similarly,  the use of lethal force, consistent with the laws of war, against an individual who is a legitimate military target would be lawful and would not violate the assassination ban.”

kill list

No way. This is the most transparent administration in history. The same administration who has a kill list with Americans on it and who deems it is constitutional to kill Americans without due process.

From RT:

A US senator has accused the Obama administration and the Justice Department for not being “adequately forthcoming” with information on the targeting and potential killing of Americans suspected of terrorism.

Ron Wyden, the Democratic senator from Oregon and a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, wrote an open letter to John Brennan, the frontrunner for the post of Director of the CIA, asking Brennan to provide Congress with the secret legal opinions defining the government’s capacity to pursue and kill US citizens suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

Members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence by law have access to classified legal opinions – but, Wyden writes, the Obama administration has denied him access to the opinions governing targeted assassinations of American citizens.

Wyden stressed that it is vital that the legal opinions guiding such conduct be distributed so that Congress and the public can “have full knowledge of how the executive branch understands the limits and boundaries of this authority,”the letter reads.

Wyden has tried for more than two years to gain access to the information, but has received either unsatisfactory responses or no response at all.

Now, he wants the information before Brennan’s confirmation hearing before the Senate. He has also asked for written assurance that future legal opinions related to the surveillance and assassination of American citizens be provided to the country’s lawmakers.

“For the executive branch to claim that intelligence agencies have the authority to knowingly kill American citizens but refuse to provide Congress with any and all legal opinions that explain the executive branch’s understanding of this authority represents an alarming and indefensible assertion of executive prerogative,”
Wyden’s letter reads.

Your typical liberal hypocrite

Your typical liberal hypocrite

If not for lying and hypocrisy, Liberals wouldn’t have any traits.

From the LA Times:

As dean of Yale Law School, Harold Hongju Koh was among the fiercest critics of PresidentGeorge W. Bush‘s “war on terror,” arguing that his administration had trampled the Constitution and tarnished America’s international standing by claiming the power to capture “enemy combatants” abroad and hold them without charges at the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The next administration must “restore the rule of law in the national security arena,” end “excessive government secrecy” and set aside the “claims of unfettered executive power,” Koh told a House panel in 2008.

But as the State Department‘s legal advisor in that new administration, Koh helped set out a legal justification for policies that include a ramped-up use of unmanned drones to attack and kill suspected terrorists in Pakistan as well as inYemen and Somalia, far from the combat zone in Afghanistan. Thousands have died, and the targets have included U.S. citizens who were seen as inspiring attacks against Americans.

The LA Times left out Obama’s kill list and indefinite detention orders in the National Defense Authorization Act he signed. Wonder why?

Koh, who is preparing to return to Yale as President Obama‘s first term comes to an end, has become a symbol of national security policies that many feel are not significantly different than those of Obama’s predecessor.

Koh has many defenders who say the administration’s anti-terrorism policies would have been harsher if he were not there. But the surprising turn has left some liberal critics puzzled. Did Koh change, or is there some “deeper pathology” that causes “top administration lawyers to rubber stamp power grabs?” Bruce Ackerman, another Yale law professor, wrote in a news blog.

This administration is spying on us via social media, reading our e-mails and text messages without warrants on top of labeling those not in support of the regime as “potential terrorist.” The Department of Homeland Security accidentally released documents proclaiming American citizens as the enemy in case of economic collapse. Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which grants the federal government the power to indefinitely detain American citizens. Obama has a kill list with Americans on it and his Attorney General, Eric Holder, believes targeted killing, via drone attack are legal, and constitutional, despite it’s lack of due process.

Don’t think Obama wouldn’t turn drones lose inside the US if his presidency is jeopardized.

The Obama regime wanted to put rules in place dealing with their unconstitutional kill list out of fear of losing to  Romney.  This is the same regime who has disregarded the laws of due process to justify killing US citizens. We have a “rule book” and it’s called the US Constitution which this regime has total disdain for.

From Yahoo News:

The White House “kill list“–a regularly updated chart showing the world’s most wanted terrorists used by President Barack Obama during kill or capture debates–may soon be getting a rule book to go with it.

According to the New York Times, the administration–faced with the possibility that President Obama might lose the 2012 election to Mitt Romney–”accelerated work in the weeks before the election to develop explicit rules for the targeted killing of terrorists by unmanned drones, so that a new president would inherit clear standards and procedures.”

Until now, President Obama has had the “final moral calculation” overseeing the “kill list,” the existence of which was first revealed in May in the wake of a drone strike that killed an al-Qaida leader.

But according to the paper, administration officials are looking to curb the power of the commander in chief with the rule book:

“There was concern that the levers might no longer be in our hands,” said one official, speaking on condition of anonymity. With a continuing debate about the proper limits of drone strikes, Mr. Obama did not want to leave an “amorphous” program to his successor, the official said. The effort, which would have been rushed to completion by January had Mr. Romney won, will now be finished at a more leisurely pace, the official said.

President Obama has voiced his support for such rules.

O-bots, like most lefties, are the most uninformed section of society. These idiots are against Obama’s own policies but only because they believe these are Romney’s policies. Despite learning these are things Obama has done, these idiots continue to support him.

DWS knows but has no problem knowingly lying to the public. That’s the reason Obama hand-picked her to lead the DNC. The NY Times reported about Obama’s “kill list’ thanks to the aid of three dozen Obama advisors, yet DWS pretends to be clueless. Another reporter skewered Obama, to his face, over his kill list. DWS does the same thing about Obama’s flip-flop on the NDAA which allows the indefinite detention of Americans without due process. Obama threatened to veto the bill and issued a signing statement to cover his fraud.
