Remember, Obama defiantly laughing and saying ObamaCare wasn’t a tax?

From Fox News:

Democratic lawmakers have joined with Republicans in raising alarm about a looming ObamaCare-tied tax on medical devices, saying the additional tax is causing “uncertainty and confusion for businesses” and should be delayed.

The previously obscure tax has, over the last several months, emerged as one of the most controversial in the health care overhaul and one of the few with bipartisan opposition. Starting Jan. 1, the Affordable Care Act imposes a 2.3 percent tax on medical devices with the goal of raising nearly $30 billion over the next decade.

But a group of U.S. senators this week revived concerns that the tax could hurt one of the few U.S. industries “that enjoys a net trade surplus.”

“The medical technology industry directly employs over 400,000 people in the United States and is responsible for a total of 2 million high-skilled manufacturing jobs,” Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar and North Carolina Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan wrote in a letter with 16 other senators and senators-elect Monday to Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid. “In an environment focused on increasing exports, promoting small businesses and growing high-tech manufacturing jobs for the future, we must do all we can to ensure that our country maintains its global leadership position in the medical technology industry and keeps good jobs here at home.”

The lawmakers urged Reid to support a delay in implementation, warning of the business consequences.

“With this year quickly drawing to a close, the medical device industry has received little guidance about how to comply with the tax-causing significant uncertainty and confusion for businesses,” they wrote. “As we work together to develop a long-term solution to help move our economy forward, reduce our debt and reform our tax code, we urge you to support delaying enactment of this provision in a fiscally responsible manner.”

Democrats have been hurting the economy since 2007. Nothing new here, move along.

From DC:

Assistant Democratic Leader Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina told The Daily Caller that the tax increases in the health care law, specifically the new 3.8 percent surtax on investment income, might hurt job growth but only if they were not part of the overall legislation.

Clyburn appeared with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer on Wednesday at the Capitol before an audience compromised of Planned Parenthood workers, college students, small business owners, parents and their children. The Democratic leaders denounced the GOP’s effort to repeal the health care law.

TheDC asked Clyburn if the surtax on investment income affecting individuals making over $200,000 and couples earning over $250,000 annually enacted to pay for the health care law would hurt the economy.

“Well, the law taken together — if that were isolated, pulled out of the law and stood by itself, maybe so but that is a part of an overall law which will have a very positive impact on the economy,” Clyburn told TheDC.

Those thousands of IRS agents, budgeted by ObamaCare to enforce the individual mandate, beg to differ.

Obama’s Solicitor General argued it was a tax. The Supreme Court ruled in a tax. Democrats are deathly afraid to admit it’s a tax, so they stick to the talking points and call it a penalty to confuse their weak-minded follower. If it’s a penalty, it would be unconstitutional since the Constitution only grants Congress the powers to lay and collect taxes.

Liberals tend to be Constitutional illiterates.

So, let me get this straight, Obama and his minions are celebrating the Supreme Court ruling ObamaCare is a tax yet these minions continue to say it’s not a tax. When can we expect Obama to give a prime-time speech slamming the Supreme Court for ruling against his law?

H/T to Katie Pavlich

Update: Even Obama’s puppet master won’t call it a tax.
