Speaker Boehner shoots down new gun regulations sought by Democrats

This is sure to piss off those Constitution-hating left-wing-anti 2nd Amendment-hating progressive lunatics who are protected by armed security/police. House Speaker John Boehner isn’t going to let Democrats use another crisis to usurp more of our constitutional rights.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is rejecting gun-control legislation offered by the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee in response to the weekend shootings of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and 19 others in Arizona. 

Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) announced plans Tuesday to introduce legislation prohibiting people from carrying guns within 1,000 feet of members of Congress. 

Can these idiots pass legislation prohibiting criminals from carrying guns within 1,000 feet of law-abiding citizens? Or laws that stop criminals from robbing banks? We already have laws but we have a government that refuses to enforce them and criminals who refuse to obey them.

King, who has previously called for the removal of illegal guns from the streets, made the announcement alongside New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, one of the nation’s loudest voices for stricter gun laws. 

Bloomberg doesn’t mind his 24-hour armed security. He just doesn’t believe the commoners should have the same luxury of protection.

King said the legislation is not intended only for the safety of government officials but also to protect the public. He said elected officials are not necessarily more important than constituents, but by protecting them in this way, they would feel safer in meeting federal officials at public events. 

“The fact is they do represent the people who elect them, and it’s essential, if we’re going to continue to have contact, that the public who are at these meetings are ensured of their own safety,” King said.

Aside from King’s proposal, longtime gun-control advocates Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) are working on legislation to prohibit high-capacity ammunition magazines like those allegedly used by Jared Lee Loughner, the 22-year-old college dropout who’s been charged in the Arizona rampage.

One lunatic with a mental disorder caused this knee-jerk reaction. Forget that this nut passed a FBI background check and legally purchased the firearm. As we all know, more laws will make criminals obey the current laws. Maybe these politicians can make murder a crime. Oops. It already is.

Caroly McCarthy (D-NY) is calling for more Gun Control…using the assassination attempt of Congresswoman as the reason

I said it wouldn’t be long before the anti-2nd amendment Democrats would be screaming for more gun control. Here’s the proof.

Politico reports:

One of the fiercest gun-control advocates in Congress, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), pounced on the shooting massacre in Tucson Sunday, promising to introduce legislation as soon as Monday.

Democrats hate to let a crisis go to waste.

McCarthy ran for Congress after her husband was gunned down and her son seriously injured in a shooting in 1993 on a Long Island commuter train.

“My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow,” McCarthy told POLITICO in a Sunday afternoon phone interview.

Gun control activists cried it was time to reform weapons laws in the United States, almost immediately after a gunman killed six and injured 14 more, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, in Arizona on Saturday.

Many said that people with a history of mental instability, like the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, should not be able to buy a gun — and no one should be able to buy stockpiles of ammunition used by the 22-year-old assailant.

Yes, because those evil bullets load themselves into a gun and then the gun goes out to kill. It’s never the criminal’s fault. It’s the tool they use.

McCarthy said she plans to confer with House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to see “if we can work something through” in the coming week.

McCarthy’s bill will look to protect ordinary people, she said, but did not offer further details.

“Again, we need to look at how this is going to work, to protect people, certainly citizens, and we have to look at what I can pass,” she said. “I don’t want to give the NRA – excuse the pun – the ammunition to come at me either.”

Notice that the anti-2nd Amendment Democrat fails to mention that the firearm used was legally purchased after Loughner passed an F.B.I. background check. You see, federal law requires law-abiding citizens to wait 5-days before purchasing a handgun. During those 5 days, the F.B.I. is supposed to conduct a background investigation.

This is very important because it’s supposed to stop lunatics from obtaining a firearm. It also should be noted that the community college Loughner attended wouldn’t let him back on campus until he receive a mental health clearance. A college could stop Loughner while the F.B.I. couldn’t.

Maybe these idiots can put forth legislation that requires the F.B.I. to actually conduct background investigations before trying to force more gun control laws upon law-abiding citizens.
