Laws mean nothing to a dictator.

From The Hill:

The White House has informed House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) that it will miss the legal deadline for sending a budget to Congress.

Acting Budget Director Jeff Zients told Ryan (R-Wis.) in a letter late Friday that the budget will not be delivered by Feb. 4, as required by law.

In the letter, Zients says the administration is “working diligently on our budget request.”

The letter blames the late passage of the “fiscal cliff” deal for the delay, saying that because tax and spending issues were not resolved until Jan. 2, “the administration was forced to delay some of its FY 2014 budget preparations, which in turn will delay the budget’s submission to Congress.”

“We will submit it to Congress as soon as possible,” Zients writes.

Ryan last Wednesday had asked the White House in a letter if it would miss the deadline.

Under the law, President Obama must submit a budget by the first Monday in February, but he has met the deadline only once. The annual budget submission is supposed to start a congressional budgeting process, but that has also broken down. The Senate last passed a budget resolution in 2009.

I got a good laugh at hypocritical lying politicians wanting to prosecute individuals who lie on background checks. If the FBI can’t find a lie on a criminal background check why are they in charge of them? I agree that anyone who lies on their background check should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law but it’s ironic that lying politicians are pushing for criminals to be honest.

From NYTimes:

Nearly 80,000 Americans were denied guns in 2010, according to Justice Department data, because they lied or provided inaccurate information about their criminal histories on background-check forms. Yet only 44 of those people were charged with a crime.

Funny, we still haven’t seen any of Obama’s records and he’s lied about his background.

The staggeringly low number of prosecutions for people who “lie and try,” as it is called by law enforcement officials, is being studied by the Obama administration as it considers measures to curb gun violence after the Connecticut elementary school shootings in December.

A background check would have done nothing to stop this shooting. The killer killed his mom and stole her guns.

A task force headed by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is expected to offer proposals to President Obama as early as Tuesday. It is looking at a wide range of issues linked to gun crimes, including violence in video games and movies, and gaps in mental health treatment and background checks.

The most contentious initiatives, like reviving a ban on assault weapons, would require Congressional approval and have drawn fierce opposition from gun rights groups and Republican lawmakers, making passage a long shot.

“I would say that the likelihood is that they are not going to be able to get an assault weapons ban through this Congress,” David Keene, the president of the National Rifle Association, said Sunday on the CNN program “State of the Union.”

In the face of those difficulties, the White House has said it is looking for actions it can take without Congressional approval. Increasing the number of prosecutions for lying on background-check forms is an effort that the administration can undertake largely on its own, in part by pressing federal prosecutors to pursue such cases. It is also one measure that both sides of the gun-control debate have agreed upon.

It is a felony to deliberately provide false information in an effort to buy a gun, and studies financed by the Justice Department show that people who do so are more likely than the average person to commit violent crimes after they are denied a firearm purchase.

At a meeting Mr. Biden held with gun control advocates on Wednesday, the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns recommended to the administration that it should instruct the Justice Department to investigate those who are denied guns and who have a history that suggests they might commit violence.

In a memorandum provided to the administration, the group suggested that “armed career criminals who have at least three prior violent felonies and/or serious drug offenses and would qualify for a mandatory sentence of 7 to 15 years” should be prosecuted if they lie on background-check forms. The group said that it provided a similar recommendation to the Obama administration in 2009.

That was too early to push for gun control, so they did nothing.

The memorandum said that more than 800 mayors in the United States “support more aggressive prosecution of those who fail background checks.”

“This is not like looking for a needle in a haystack — these are people you know are too violent to buy a gun,” John Feinblatt, an official with the mayors’ group who met with Mr. Biden on Wednesday, said in a telephone interview. “Once they have been rejected, they go online or to a private seller or a gun show and get a gun.”

Criminals buy from other criminals. They don’t buy from law-abiding citizens or federally licensed firearms dealers or from gun shows. Just more liberal lies to push their gun control propaganda.

Shhh, you wouldn’t know anything about this due to the liberal media hiding the truth…as usual.

From PJ Tatler:

President Obama informed Congress Sunday evening that U.S. forces were present in Somalia on Friday for a French raid to rescue a hostage from al-Shabaab.

The attempt to rescue the intelligence officer who had been held by the terrorist group for three years went very wrong, though.

One French commando was killed in the operation and another is missing. Al-Shabaab claimed that the commando is now their hostage.

And French army consultant Denis Allex, the pseudonym for the intelligence officer, is presumed dead.

“Extremely violent fights took place, during which everything leads us to think that Mr. Allex was shot dead by his kidnappers,” France’s Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told reporters at a news conference Saturday. Al-Shabaab claimed Allex is still alive and in their hands.

Obama sent his notice in accordance with the War Powers Resolution to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate President Pro Tempore Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) today.

“United States forces provided limited technical support to the French forces in that operation, but took no direct part in the assault on the compound where it was believed the French citizen was being held hostage,” Obama wrote.

“United States combat aircraft briefly entered Somali airspace to support the rescue operation, if needed. These aircraft did not employ weapons during the operation. The U.S. forces that supported this operation left Somalia by approximately 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 11, 2013.”

Once again, liberals will explode with this proven fact: More GUNS, LESS crime.

From WPTV:

In the so-called Gunshine State, home to the most gun permits in the country, firearm violence has fallen to the lowest point on record.

As state and national legislators consider gun control laws in the wake of last month’s Connecticut school shooting, Florida finds itself in a gun violence depression. The Firearm-involved violent crime rate has dropped 33 percent between 2007 and 2011, while the number of issued concealed weapons permits rose nearly 90 percent during that time, state records show.

“We’re happy to have facts and statistics put into these debates, because every time they do, we win,” said Sean Caranna, executive director of Florida Carry Inc., a pro-gun-rights advocacy group.

Here comes the liberal media spin…

But other state and national data suggests a more nuanced picture of gun violence.

Florida statistics show murderers are increasingly using firearms. Between 2000 and 2005, Florida’s firearm-involved murder rate never topped 3.5 per 100,000 residents. Every year since, it’s exceeded that number. And in 2011, for the first time on record, guns were used in more than 70 percent of homicides.

Yet gun violence is at record lows but the liberal media has to blame guns instead of the criminals committing these criminal acts. Nationwide, violent crimes are at a  31-year low as gun ownership is at record highs. That defeats the liberal meme that guns cause crime.

Mirroring the 33 percent decline in gun violence since 2007, the violent crime rate also dropped 26 percent during that time, which could suggest other factors at play in causing fewer criminal acts.

So…more criminals are using guns but the rates are down? How does that work?

“It’s difficult to attach gun control to the reduction of crime, and vice versa,” said Arthur Hayhoe, executive director of the Florida Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. “We don’t know what works. We can’t prove that gun control works because we don’t have gun control laws.”

Liberal lie. There are gun control laws in every, single state. In order to purchase a handgun you have to be 21-years of age and pass a background check. Then you have to wait 5 days. For a concealed weapon permit one must go through a training class, pass a test plus pass an FBI background check. Telling the truth doesn’t help gun control nuts so they lie.
